Exhibition ‘On Queerness and Ecology’

We invite artists to submit their work for an upcoming exhibition exploring the themes of LGBTQ+ identity, ecology, and nature as a source of artistic inspiration.

Submission Guidelines:

  • All forms of visual art are welcome, provided they align with the exhibition's theme. This includes painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and video.

  • Application fee: Free

  • Artists of all backgrounds and experience levels are invited to participate. New or unfinished work is also acceptable.

  • Please submit up to 5 images of your work, an artist statement, a brief biography, and specifications about each artwork.

  • Selected artists are responsible for delivering and collecting their works, including any associated insurance and transportation costs.

  • Applicants who reside outside of the United Kingdom will not be considered. 

Important Dates:

  • Deadline for submissions: Sunday, 1st September 2024, 23:59 (UK time)

  • Results announcement date: Monday, 9th September 2024

  • Drop-off of artwork: Thursday, 26th September 2024

  • Collection of artwork: Monday, 30th September 2024

  • Opening evening: 27 September 2024, 18:00 – 21:00 

  • Opening times: 27 – 29 September, 10:00 – 18:00; 30 September, 10:00 – 16:00

Panel of Judges:
Our panel comprises esteemed artists and curators passionate about these themes. They will review submissions and select the works for the exhibition. The panel includes members of the Worms Collective (Ruben Carneiro, Azeri Aghayeva and Paulo Madureira), Hannah Fletcher of The Sustainable Darkroom, artists Ana De Llor and Skye Matthew, and curator Ana Martins.

Further Information:
This event is part of Paulo Madureira’s research-based photographic project and book launch “Here, I Vanished, Among the Trees” (2023), and will be curated by the artist, with input from the curatorial panel. With the support of Middlesex University London, and in collaboration with The Sustainable Darkroom and Worms Collective.
